Welcome to my website.
My name is Joanna Wildy and I am an osteopath. I started my osteopathic career in 1984 and currently work in the private practice in Richmond, Surrey. (www.kewosteopath.co.uk) I lecture and examine at undergraduate and postgraduate level, both in the UK and abroad. I was overseeing the osteopathic course content of one of the major colleges in London as their External Examiner. I have a special interest in osteopathy in the cranial field and was a member of the teaching faculty at the Vienna School of Osteopathy from 2004 for 11 years.
This website has been designed as a vehicle for published articles that I have written for the osteopathic profession. I would like to see osteopathy in the cranial field included wholeheartedly into the undergraduate training of osteopathic students in the UK so that it is understood, respected, valued as it is throughout Northern Europe and that the standards of education in this field are not at risk as they currently are in the UK.
On the 3 pages you will find the 3 articles that I have written in sequence over the last 3 years. My ultimate aim has been to influence the UK undergraduate colleges to rethink the structure of their courses.
Many colleges in Northern Europe teach Structural, Visceral and Cranial Osteopathy alongside one another and, importantly, with equal credence. No osteopath can qualify without being fully trained in each of the 3 disciplines. The students graduate with a full understanding of musculoskeletal, cranial and visceral anatomy and are competent in using both direct and indirect techniques. By being taught alongside one another these 3 disciplines merge into a simple ideology based on Still and osteopathy in its intended format. This ideology can be applied to any patient in the complete sense. It is an ideology shared by many great thinkers in all different walks of life.
Please read on to understand my rationale...
